1885The Nankai Railway as the first private railway in the Kansai was built between Namba and Yamatogawa River, at the southern end of the City.
1888Chobo-kaku was completed in Namba.
1889The Osaka Railway, now JR Yamatoji Line, was built between Minatomachi and Kashiwara towards Nara.
1890The 5th Domestic Industrial Fair was held in Tennoji-Shinsekai venue between March and July.

1908The Osaka City Streetcar line opened between Ebisu-cho and Umeda.
The Keitaku-en Japanese garden was completed
1909The City Streetcar line was extended from Ebisu-co to Tennoji West Gate.
Tennoji Park opened on 15 October.
1911The Hankai Electric Railway opened between Ebisu-cho and Sakai.
1912Shinsekai was inaugurated on 3 July.
Both Tsutenkaku and Luna Park opened.
1915The municipal Tennoji Zoo opened on January.
1918A licensed red district opened in Tobita.
1919Subway Midosuji Line completed between Umeda and Shinsaibashi.
1923Luna Park was closed.
1936The Municipal Museum of Art opened.
1943A fire started in a theatre at the foot of Tsutenkaku and destroyed the Tower on 16 January.
1945Shinsekai was wiped out in a big air raid on 13 March. World War 2 came to an end on 15 August.
1946A junk-shopping street first began business in the area.
1956The second-generation Tsutenkaku opened on 28 October.
1958Tobita licensed red district was closed.
1970Expo '70 opened between March and September.
1987Tennoji Fair opened between August and November.
1990The International Flower and Greenery Exposition opened between April and September.
1995The Great Hanshin Earthquake.
1996Shinsekai began a total renovation to be completed in 1998.
1996A popular TV drama set on Shinsekai made the area a tourist attraction.
1997Festival Gate Aamusement Park and Spa World opened.
2000Shinsrkai website opened.
