The first Castle was originally built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi ( shogun and Political figures ) in 1585. The 2nd Castle was constructed during the Tokugawa Period ( 18 C.).The present 3rd Castle tower was reconstructed by Osaka citizens in 1933.

Osaka Castle is the most prominent symbol of Osaka. Oda nobunaga ( Shogun in 16 C.) thought of building the Castle after ending the battle of Ishiyama in 1580. However, two years later in 1582, his dream was shattered when he was killed during the Incident of Honno-ji Temple.

His dream was finally realized by Shogun Hideyoshi.
However after his death, Castle was destroyed by Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu.
After war the Castle Tower was burned down many times, by fire and lighting. At the end of the period in 1848, it was reconstructed, using contributions collected from Osaka Merchants.

Afterwords, in the last days of Tokugawa Shogunate, the Castle disappeared from the history stage,
when the Last Shogun Tokugawa Yoshinobu escaped from Kyoto to Osaka, in 1867, on occasion of the end to the Tokugawa house, lasting for 200 years.
