   Gappoga-tuji Enma-do Temple

Many people visiting the temple in the Uemachi area or taking a walk from Shitennoji used to visit the temple. It was built by Prince Shotoku and had a number of large temple buildings. But these were destroyed by fire during one of local wars and only a small temple had remained kept by the citizens of the neibourhood. The temple had become well known as a popular drama was written late in the 18th century about the temple and many Osaka travel guidebooks of the time wrote about the temple as a place to visit.

Even today, the actors visit the temple when the drama is put on the stage in Osaka.

Some time in the second half of the 19th century, the temple was moved to the present site as the street had to be expanded. It was destroyed by an air raid on 13 March 1945 and rebuilt by the worshippers.
